FOURTH PLACE FOR MAGYAR POSTA IN THE ENVIRONMENTAL RANKING OF THE ESG LIST

This year, for the first time, the sustainability consultants Planet Fanatics Network and the economics weekly HVG ranked large Hungarian companies according to environmental, social and governance (ESG) dimensions. The primary objective of the research, entitled top 25 ESG list, is to assess the extent to which the largest Hungarian companies operate sustainably and what they are doing from environmental, social, and corporate perspectives, i.e. for the future.

Magyar Posta achieved a praiseworthy fourth place in the environmental ranking out of the three main ESG dimensions, behind Magyar Telekom, the MVM Group, and Richter Gedeon. In the environmental analysis, the experts first looked at whether the company in question had an environmental management system and a climate target, and whether it met scientific standards, and then considered its carbon dioxide emissions compared to sales revenue, the proportion of renewable energy in total energy consumption and the degree of change in fuel intensity compared to sales revenue.

Magyar Posta was also placed in the top 10 companies in the rankings of the other two areas (social and economic governance) and was rated 8th out of the 107 companies considered in the analysis in the overall list that takes account of all three criteria.

Magyar Posta is an avowed energy- and environmentally conscious company which is constantly looking for areas where it can save energy and minimise its environmental impact. It regularly reports its environmental performance against the key indicators set by the Global Reporting Initiative standard in its sustainability reports, which are available on the Company’s website, and has joined the climate protection programme of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), which operates under the auspices of the UN.
